Where You can Walk in the Suburbs of Seoul

There are numerous romantic tourist attractions in Gyeonggi-do, just a 1- to 2-hour drive from the city center of Seoul. Here, you can go on a date like the couples in dramas or look around while walking slowly. Quite pretty photographs can be taken with the buildings and spectacular natural scenery in harmony with trails, etc. If you have time to spare, it is recommended to visit regions such as Paju, Pocheon, Namyangju and Yongin. The Bortanical Garden of BCJ in Paju is a tourist attraction for taking a stroll. You can heal yourself in a beautiful garden with a forest and ponds. Song Jung-gi (as Yu Si-jin) went fishing here in Descendants of the Sun. In Provence Village, not only are there distinctive restaurants and cafes in European-style buildings, but also stores that sell unique items and many cultural contents. It became more popular after Who Came from the Stars was filmed here. Pocheon Art Valley became a famous tourist attraction after the closed quarry was transformed into lovely Cheonjuho Lake and a park. Exhibitions and performances are held and experiential activities are possible here. Lee Min-ho and Jun Ji-hyun met each other in Legends of the Blue Sea at the lake here. If the dazzling emerald-colored lake was impressive, visit Cheonjuho Lake.

A unique tourist attraction: a professional filming studio
Isn’t there a high possibility of running into a film crew or a star in a professional studio where frequent filming is done all year round? Of course! KOFIC Namyangju Studios is a must-visit tourist attraction if you are a fan of Korean movies or dramas, and it is known as Asia’s largest film production facility. In particular, many historical dramas such as Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and The Goblin were shot in the folk village and traditional hanok outdoor filming site here.

Dae Jang Geum Park is a hallyu drama theme park as well as a professional open set studio for historical dramas. The main studio and props from Dae Jang Geum to Jumong and Ruler: Master of the Mask can be seen. Put these two places on your list if you want to vividly see the filming sites of K-dramas.

Petite France is a theme park officially aligned with La Fondation Antoine De Saint-Exupery in France. It is filled with things to see and do, from a memorial hall dedicated to Antoine de Saint- Exupery, the author of “The Little Prince,” to French-style buildings, an antique gallery, a traditional European marionette show, etc. Also, Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Su-hyeon kissed here in Who Came from the StarsKorean Folk Village, where life in the Joseon Dynasty is reproduced, frequently appears in the scenes of historical dramas. It is popular since a variety of experiences such as sitting on the king’s throne and going inside a deserted house or a jail are possible. After looking around the tourist attractions in Gyeonggi-do, you can visit Baekhyeon-dong Café Street to take a rest and drink coffee. On Baekhyeon-dong Café Street, Kim Su-hyeon nicely rode a bicycle in Who Came from the Stars. Take a picture of the street with rows of neat cafés.
